MLB Coverage: Daily Sports For Memorial Day Weekend

America has a three-day holiday weekend ahead, and while I assume most people are going to take the opportunity to get outside—I’ve got a couple local amateur baseball games to go to—there’s still a menu of TV action to go along with the festivities. Here’s the Memorial Day weekend rundown on daily sports

SATURDAY

It seems like forever since the NBA’s Western Conference Finals were in action, and San Antonio-Memphis will play Game 3 tonight (9 PM ET, ESPN). Preceding that, there’s a hockey doubleheader, with NY Rangers-Boston (5:30 PM ET, NBC Sports Network) and Detroit-Chicago (8 PM ET, NBC). Both the Bruins and Red Wings have a chance to close out this series in their respective Game 5s.

Daily Sports: Another Round Of LeBron, Crosby & The Yanks On Friday

The Friday night schedule for TV daily sports looks an awful lot like Wednesday’s—it’s a day to focus on the stars, with LeBron James and Sidney Crosby getting the attention, and the Yankees playing a big AL East game.

TNT carries Game 2 of the Heat-Pacers series in the NBA Eastern Conference Finals, with a tip time of 8:30 PM ET. After Miami’s 103-102 overtime win in the opener, I’ve heard conflicting opinions on whether Indiana has to win tonight. I think they do—yes, I think the Pacers could win two in a row on their home floor and even the series back up, but if an upset is to happen I think it’s much more likely Indiana gets a road win the series’ opening stanza, then in Game 5 or Game 7.

Daily Sports: NHL Tripleheader Leads Thursday’s Card

After a wild night in the NBA playoffs on Wednesday, the daily sports focus shifts to a heavy NHL night on Thursday. The hockey playoffs will feature a nationally televised tripleheader, with the prospect of one team advancing to the conference finals, and both last year’s champs and this year’s favorite facing big games.

NBC Sports Network carries two of the games, and coverage starts at 8 PM ET with Chicago-Detroit. The Blackhawks are a slight betting line favorite to win this year’s Stanley Cup, but after falling behind the Red Wings 2-1 in games, Chicago now faces a big test in Game 4 from Joe Louis Arena in Detroit tonight.

Daily Sports: LeBron & Crosby Lead Daily Sports On Wednesday

The daily sports menu for Wednesday is star-driven, as LeBron James and Sidney Crosby go into action in the NBA & NHL playoffs and the man who’s been the American League’s best pitcher in the early part of the 2013 season gets the ball on ESPN.

LeBron and the Miami Heat open their Eastern Conference Finals series against Indiana tonight at 8:30 PM ET. TNT has the Eastern Finals, so that means the pregame hijinks of Kenny Smith and Charles Barkley, something that should be DVR’d even if the game itself is not a priority. The West, televised on ABC/ESPN, is off until the weekend after San Antonio’s win last night gave them a 2-0 series lead over Memphis.

Daily Sports: NBA Western Conference Finals Resume Tuesday

The NBA playoffs resume tonight, with Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals being the focal point of the daily sports diet for Tuesday. Memphis visits San Antonio in a game that tips at 9 PM ET on ESPN, and I would presume that means you get the entertaining pregame set of Michael Wilbon and Magic Johnson, with Jalen Rose and Bill Simmons along for the ride.
